09.09.09 Timber Design Centre
On the instigation of the NZ Timber Design Society, a Timber Design Centre is being set up by NZ Wood. The purpose of the centre is to provide technical advice to the industry on the use of timber for structures.Jason Guiver of Hunter Laminates has been appointed timber specialist/coordinator, with the service commencing November 2010.

The World Conference on Timber Engineering 2012 (WCTE2012) is to be hosted by New Zealand and Australia in Auckland in 2012.WCTE grew from the first Pacific PTEC conference held in Auckland in 1984 . This was followed by Queensland and Rotorua before it became the World Conference. With new developments in timber engineering 2012 is excellent timing for the WCTE to be held in New Zealand for it’s first time in the southern hemisphere.
